Sometime back I was asked to build a "Bassman type thing" for a friend of mine.
As you may or may not know the venerable Bassman amp was the foundation for millions of other amps and has been produced in dozens of different variations. I decided to build an idealized version of one with my own touches so I combined a tweed style preamp, with a few of the nice touches of the brown series to give really smooth mids and wonderful natural breakup. My own tweaks to the tonestack made it much more useable and friendly to all types of pedals. I combined it with the Blackface type solid state rectified power stage for 50 watts of power and added a transparent master volume to keep things under control on stage. the result is the Scarlett Scout amp. It is one of the most versatile amps I have ever heard! Just like all Scarlett amps it is built inside a high quality Aluminum chassis on an 1/8" Fiberglass board of my own design and manufacture. Quality components are used and everything is solidly hand built, wired, and assembled. Attention to detail like this is rarely found in this modern throw away age. The Scarlett Scout is available for custom order for $1,500. |
